If the aim of architecture is to incorporate buildings into their surrounding areas, then constructions like skywalks and viewpoints take this concept to a whole new level. These works of art enable everyone to experience nature in a different and more intimate way.
One of Croatia’s most preserved natural places – Nature Park Biokovo got its first skywalk. A unique attraction not only in Croatia but also in the entire region will reward adventurous visitors and those who want to overcome their fears with spectacular views of the Makarska Riviera and islands. Thanks to the glass surface, you will feel like walking among the clouds.
The unique attraction in the entire region
The U-shaped construction consists of a glass floor and is located on the edge of the cliff, 1228 meters above the sea level. It’s located in the area called “Ravna Vlaška”, in the southwestern part of the Biokovo Nature Park.
The visitors from all around the world will have a chance to learn more about the way nature shaped the Biokovo mountains with the “geological pillar”. The pillar was built as a three-dimensional presentation of the rocks that formed the entire area of Biokovo.
How to reach the Biokovo Skywalk?
You can reach the Skywalk by the “Biokovo road” (if you travel in a car or bicycle). The road goes all the way to the main entrance of the Biokovo Nature Park, which is approximately 6 km away from the town of Makarska. The road actually goes all the way to the Sv. Jure (St. George) – which is the highest peak of the Biokovo mountain (1762 m).
